Germinating seeds

- fold some kitchen paper in half then half again. Soak this in warm water.

- place your seeds on the kitchen paper and fold over so they are enclosed - be gentle! Make sure it's pretty moist/wet, almost dripping a little.

- place on a plate and put in a dark cupboard at around 70F ideally or room temp

- check every 5 hours ideally or as often as possible to ensure the kitchen paper does not dry out. Re-moisten with warm water as needed.

- prepare rockwool cubes (1") in solution of Formulex EC strength 5 with some root stimulant also.

- the seeds will start to crack open over space of about a week. A small root will appear. As soon as you see a small root, insert into hole in the rockwool cube (root facing away from the light, insert only a few MM into the cube)

- Place the rockwool cube under a fluoerescent light minimum 36" away on a light cycle of 18 hours on/6 hours off (darkness) - or place by the window provided there is at least 18 hours of daylight. Ensure rockwool cubes stay moist.

Soon the seeds will turn to small shoots and sprout roots from the bottom - once the bottom of the cube has a few roots, insert into a larger 3" rockwool cube.

  Taking cuttings or clones

This is slightly more complex. You will first of all require a MOTHER plant...that is a plant on an 18 hour light cycle with some health shoots which can be 'cut' off and cloned into rockwool. The mother plant will ideally be about 2 feet tall before it can be cloned from.

The advantage of cloning is you know what the mother plant's performance has been like, so you get guaranteed genetics and female plants.

- soak 1" rockwool cubes in solution of Formulex EC strength 5, add root stimulant

- cut sections from your mother plant, you're looking for a nice top and 2 or 3 branches with leaves

- insert the stem into some Clonex cloning gel and coat with the gel.

- insert this stem with Clonex into a moist 1" rockwool cube

- place in a propagator under a fluorescent light on 18 hours on / 6 hours off cycle.

- spray you nutrient (Formulex EC strength 5) onto the leaves every 3 hours min. The plants will wilt initially, just keep spraying them and within 3-4 days they should start to root to the rockwool cube. Each time you spray them, it is the only way they can receive nutrient as the cuttings have no root system.

- once the cuttings look healthy, you only need to keep the rockwool cubes moist/damp with nutrient (EC strength 5) and can stop spraying.

- within 3 weeks they should have a healthy root system and should be ready to go into a 3" rockwool cube.

Now you are ready to grow your baby plants.
